On Earth, ELF wave analysis methods are so advanced that\nthey enable determining coordinates and parameters of atmospheric\ndischarges of different types as well as mapping storm centers on a\nglobal scale. These methods can be successfully transferred to Mars.\nA single ELF station on the Martian surface will be able to detect\nsignals from sufficiently strong discharge occurring anywhere in the\nplanetary atmosphere. Such discharges on Mars can be related to\nelectrical activity of Martian dust storms. Due to a significant\ndepth of ELF wave penetration into the subsurface of Mars, due to\nlack of liquid water at the planetary surface, research on ELF\npropagation creates a unique opportunity to determine the subsurface\nstructure of Mars. Analyzing waveforms of ELF pulses and Schumann\nresonance parameters (resonance of a planetary cavity made up of the\nionosphere and the high-conductivity planetary subsurface layers) can\nallow for reconstruction of the subsurface layers of Mars.
